The Eid holidays gave me chance to catch up on sleep, not touch my laptop and don't give a damn about the mobile phone that surprisingly did not ring as much as it normally does, phew! Besides spending time with my family, the highlight of the holidays was the barbeque dinner somewhere in the dunes in Nizwa area planned mostly by Neville and made possible by the night driving navigational skills of Kashif.
As the old goes away and the new is about to set pace, I naturally drifted into a rethink on times gone. For those who have been reading the pages of this site regularly, and there are very many of them going by the mails that I keep getting daily, you know that the last few years have seen a lot of changes on the site. But somewhere down the line, I feel, that connect of passion with what was being published got lost - was it overshadowed by the awe of technical development that we underwent or simply a case where other matters took priority over this - I don't know. I don't want to know!
I remember the sleepless nights that were once a daily chorus, and miss them. Last few years have undoubtedly seen a lot happen on the business front but I want to do what I enjoy the most - working hands on here!
My new year resolution - to make AutoMiddleEast a vibrant auto community in the Middle East. The images in the rear view mirror have blurred somewhat but visibility up ahead is getting clearer by the minute. In days to come, we will gather pace and make this drive even more enjoyable :)
