A Diesel GT Called Trident Iceni
by Nabeel M. Ferzan on Wednesday, 27 August 2008

British low-volume sportscar-maker Trident is ready with its Iceni sportscar. The company says that it is now geared for rolling out the production car. The Iceni is two-seater sportscar with capability to reach a top speed of 320-plus kilometre-per-hour. Trident claims that the Iceni possess the potential to attain the 0-100kmph (0-60mph) mark in under 4 seconds while returning up to 160 kilometres-per-gallon (100mpg) – and all this while sipping diesel!

Yes, the Trident Iceni is actually a diesel sports car. The Iceni GT is also easy on the environment – it can actually be used with any kind of biodiesel without any adjustment or re-mapping to the engine or affect to its performance.

The Iceni is a traditional grand tourer, according to the company. Trident claims that the Iceni can travel close to 3200 kilometres (2000 miles) with a full tank of diesel. The boot has enough space for luggage and golf clubs, enough for a two week holiday. The Iceni's chassis is made from stainless steel and is guaranteed against corrosion for 100 years while the body is made from composite and can therefore never rust or degrade.

Trident has invested heavily on the Iceni project which has enabled them to complete the development needed to get the sportscar up into the production stage. Having done that, the company is now scouting for possible investors to fund it onto the next stage. Any takers?
