2010 Chevrolet Camaro Officially Unveiled
by Nabeel M. Ferzan on Tuesday, 22 July 2008

General Motors (GM) has released the official details of 2010 Chevrolet Camaro coupe showing the muscle car in final production guise. The Camaro comes back after an absence of almost eight years.

Edgy design lines, sharp creases, LED lights all around give Camaro a modern, distinct and sporty look. Its long, extended hood and short rear deck is reminiscent of the previous generation Camaros. Retro theme, with modern touches continues on the inside as well.

Unlike the Ford Mustang which has a live rear axle, the Camaro has full independent suspension. Two alloy-blocked engines will be offered – a 3.6-litre V6 and a 6.2-litre V8, developing 300bhp and 420bhp respectively. Both are to be offered with a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions. The V8 will feature cylinder deactivation to save on fuel. Other features of the 2010 Camaro will include an ultrasonic park assist, Bluetooth connectivity, and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Camaro has a descent following here in the Middle East. One can often see fine examples of the previous generation cars on duty almost everyday. The Nissan GT-R is already making waves in the country and with the addition of the Camaro to that affordable-supercar category, buyers will be a pampered lot with a variety of choices.

GM Middle East is yet to announce if they will be bringing this one to town, but we we don't see any reason why not. With petrol prices at the levels they are in US and elsewhere in the world, there might not be many takers for a big engined car. On the other hand, there will be keen young Arab buyers in markets like Kuwait, UAE and Saudi Arabia  in addition to a handful of pampered expatriates.

As for now just feast your eyes on these racy yellow and red Camaros!
